Remember July 15th when the announcement was made about $3million coming to Flint to target crime in an area south of I-69, Dort Highway on the east, Fenton Roadon the west and Hemphill as the southern boundary.

Well it looks like the Prosecutor's office has hired the 3 prosecutors as their part of the grant.

Now when is the Flint Police component going to be in place? Word is Pickell and Leyton are anxious to get moving.

Hopefully they don't infringe on anyones rights so it ends up in another costly lawsuit against Flint. Need some solid police work here and not a posse mentality.

The Dec 8, 2009 edition of the Flint Enquirer ( a small circulation African American weekly edition newspaper) had a feature story alleging racism in the hiring of Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys APAs). According to the story Leyton has hired 6 APAs and all were white. They attempted to compare his record to previous Prosecutors.

The reason I bring this up is the word is 2 of the 3 new APAs for the task force are said to be black. Were they good candidates or did interviews for the story influence the decision? The decision was announced last Friday. Was this in anticipation of the story?

Whats really funny is dort hwy being the east boundry. Guess they will just ignore the goings on in the projects off lippincott and atherton. And of course you can already hear the rumblings of racial profiling. Oh ya that sounds like another 3 mil well spent. What a joke. Rolling Eyes

Webs, it's interesting that you mention the Enquirer. One of our neighbors is the owner & publisher of the paper, & I've never seen a copy.

Right now there are some at City Hall. You will have to excuse the poor grammar and spelling. I was told it was at the District Courts too.

yeah..... he's been around a long time.

as far as racial profiling, i can't see how that will be a problem, especially in some of those housing (apartment) developements. hell, at least 90% of the residents are black. i don't see an issue.

For a number of years there has been organized type criminal enterprises in the south side. I am sure that is the focus of the task force. Racial profiling-I don't think so as much of that area is white. Had they gone across Dort Highway, they would have hit more predominantly black areas.

The team may finally be coming into place, no thanks to the Flint administration. The order of the day seems to be to keep the officers quessing.

Still issues with the task force. Police call it a work in progress! Who is running this operation?

Isn't this the same old story? Lack of organization, lack of pushing things in the right direction, letting some parts of the city fall through the cracks despite big plans on making it better?
