Todays Free Press and Detroit news both carried the story about the new Pew report. Prominent in the report was the conclusion that Michigan will be among the poorest states for years and the jobs lost will not recover for 15 years.
Among the causes reported are the lack of government reforms and "chronic deficits fed in part by generous tax exemptions to businesses and retirees and no taxes on services". The age group over 65 is the fastest growing segment of our population. |

Yes the report discussed the auto industry .
The Flint Journal got tax breaks in 2002 when they built their $30 million new press building. Vacated streets and everything.
Now they print in Bay City and I hear the presses are going elsewhere, (North carolina? ).
That would explain their biased reporting. They have violated their agreement on jobs ,etc as the tax abatements were supposed to keep jobs here. In my opinon we will never get the truth out of the Journal. |
