what the hell????? Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

alright, some here know the REAL DEAL!!!! Cool

1.what will become of buchanan? after seeing the picture of buchanan holding williamson's hand during the resignation, i am compelled to believe the mayor was forced to resign for reasons we may never know. i suspect the mayor told buchanan, in a closed meeting what was really going on and why he couldn't appoint him the top position. this was no surprise to buchanan which leads to the next question.
2.why did he really resign?
3.who will run for mayor this time?
4.who is brown allied with?
5.who will brown get rid of?
6.which councilpeople are attempting to get a job with the upcoming administration?

i will say this. mr.mayor, enjoy your retirement sir.

I mostly agree with Adam.
1) Buchanon is toast. No need for a "deputy mayor" and Brown will
eliminate many managerial positions.
2) Merely speculation, but I believe the Career Alliance/City Security
investigation by the feds was something bigger. Don got caught
up and was getting ready to take a fall. He was offered a "deal"
and he took it.
3) Still may be many. Walling, Neely, Buchanon, Raynetta Speed,
and probably a few suprises, including Mike Brown.
4) The downtown business community including Uptown Development
and the Mott Foundation.
5) Brown is going to clean house. Most if not all of Williamson
appointments are going to be history.
6) I don't believe any of the council people are looking for positions.
They all need to worry about keeping their seats on council in this
falls election cycle. All of them share some blame for the current
condition of the city. They were elected to be the check and
balance to the mayor and they let him repeatedly violate the
City Charter without repercussions. Unacceptable. They should all
be replaced.

I don't believe Williamson was part of the Career Alliance scandal. I do believe that the investigation that was conducted under the cloak of "Career Alliance" was also an investigation into the mayor's office and Williamson himself. Something was turned up and Williamson was about to be pinched.

Had the recall gone as planned and been successful it would have created a situation where an election on May 5th resulted in a winner take all mayor for the remainder of Williamson's term. The great unknown stirred the downtown development people and a plan was hatched to create some control. Emerson was pulled in and Brown was picked. Williamson was told to appoint Brown and resign. He did.

I believe Williamson's fortune is more smoke and mirrors just like his political aspirations. I'm not saying he's broke, but any money, investments, or property value he has is offset by liabilities.
