The auto woes are all due to American people buying foreign cars and the unwillingness of the union to make concessions. Look who's making concessions now after driving the Big-3 into the ground. Before it is all over, I'm thinking the union will go bust and auto workers will be making a reasonable wage for the work they do unless the American people continue to buy foreign.
Holds a lot more truth now:
"Lost Your Job Yet? Keep Buying Foreign!"

I'm not beating up on you, Richard, but why does everyone want to pull the auto worker's wages down instead of raising other people's wages? |

I had a chance to get about a $10.00 per hour job working first shift and was elated but I can't do it since my kids are soooo young at this point...I would surely take a job at a GM facility working second shift making 14.00 per hour...it would be 14.00 per hour more than what I am making now....Not everyone can work first....sigh. |

It could actually be a bit more than $14.00 an hour since they pay or used to a 5% premium for second shift. I my self used to get 10% for third shift but of course it was a bit over twice the $14 an hour. And I can well remember when many folks I knew would never lower themselves to "work in the shop."Of course they had no problem pissing and moaning about the benefits and such myself and my wife were making while buying their VWs and Toyotas. Screw em now their still working and my wife and I well you know. |

yup, they were called "shop rats"...
never bought foriegn either...here in nevada these folks buy toyota
big time......never seen so many imports...
i do think the big 3 will have to force concessions from the UAW or
2taps man obama will have to pull a reagan and FORCE the uaw
to accept a major lowering of wages as long as they also FORCE
the bigwigs to lower their compensation. alls fair in love and war |
