I think that the City of Pontiac, and Oakland County
could have handled the funeral Home's eviction a bit
more professionally. Which has been one of my main
struggle points concerning the media, and how it can
be used to race bash.

I do not know the full details that caused the funeral
home to be placed on the eviction list, but I do know
that the law states that a person is allowed so many
days to move out. Also, to me this is a very shameful
situation. Especially, by this happening in the Black
community to the black community.

Dave, since you two is sharing the story with each other.
What are you really thinking about the eviction, and how
do you think this situation should have been handled?
Unforturnately, this was not a non-black business that
this happened to, but I am sure that the story would not
have gotten as wide spreaded if this would have occured
in your community, and probley if it happened in your
community the media would have presented 45 seconds
of information.

Pontiac is struggling just like Flint economically, and to
me its not the incident itself that's shocking. Its the
stress that's placed on the families. This is why we do
need a change in Lansing in order to make our economics
to get under control. Richard, since you read the entire
story what do you think could or should have been done?

Race has absolutely nothing to do with the story. They could have contacted the medical examiner's office in advance to come pick up the remains.

It is always a tragedy when something like this happens and not knowing as to why it happened but, seems it could have been handled better. For starters, I think the funeral home could have gotten all remains finished and out of there before eviction and not allowing them to accept any more calls. I also think perhaps the owners may have done this publicly just to get the media attention but once again, not knowing exactly what happened hard to really say.
As a person in the funeral business any time something like this happens it hurts the entire funeral industry overall giving us a black eye. I suppose the vandals will now tear the place apart and maybe the owner will think he should have been just a bit more understanding in these hard economic times. Better to have it occupied collecting something than sitting empty getting destroyed and collecting nothing. But once again not knowing the circumstances exposes this story to only one side.

Richard, in your post you made many valid comments.
However, Dave, Oakland County (Pontiac) are the ones
who apparently did not use the proper eviction guidelines,
and this is what happened.
It appears to me that some kind of mixed up was made
between the funeral home and the Landlord/Tenants court,
and it caught the uneral home owner of guide.

Sure Richard, Something like this do not look good, but if
this owner did this in protest. Did he have rights to protest?.
Which brings up another question what was he trying to get
the people to understand? No doult the vandals will tear
the place apart, but like you said Richard there's a reason
why this situation happened.

Was the owner already losing the business to foreclosure?
Dave, I am NOT stating that it was done in a discriminating
or racist manner, but things could have been handled in a
better fashion.

Dave, lets say that the owner did not have enough time
to contact the Families, another Funeral home, or the
Medical examiner's office. You are only reading the one
side of the story, but I am sure that the Owner do have
his or her side to tell, and until then the story readers
should wait to see or read about the other side of the
story.

People are getting evicted wrongly everyday due to
foreclosures. My community friends had to go to a
Familie's rescue. Because they was given a eviction
notice that would have allowed them time to re-locate,
but the eviction happened two weeks ahead of the
actual date, and this is what could be the case of the
funeral home owner.

So before we throw stones. Let's find out what really
happened Dave, and then we might can come to a
conclusion.
