Rap, Adam is the ONLY person in Davison who has made an attempt

Adam Ford, Rapunzel. Adam made that clear when Kevin was running
as a write in.

This is the inner-cities problem now everyone from the outside
wants or think that they can do better,

Pin stripe...I know who Adam Ford is...thank you for your outside input.
We live here in the greater Flint area.

Adam is my friend.

Yes, he and I disagree on occasion more often than not.

We also learn from each other.

Adam took the time to participate on the facilities committee as I once did.

I commend his dedication to the children of the City of Flint.

My daughter sat though many school board meetings as we gave input. She told me Dr. Chow would watch over her forever. The School board ditched Dr. Chow.

I still have great faith that FCS can be the best. I Know that flint has better programs than smaller charters can offer.

I will not put my daughter through more transition. If Flint Schools would have implemented suggested changes 4 years ago then everything would have been smooth for my child to progress to flint secondary schools. We stayed through 6th grade still no long range plan for high schools.

As it is now my child will have graduated before Flint Schools gets organized.

Her elementary was closed when she was in first grade. A whole generation of Flint School children are lost in transition. Dr. Chow had a long range plan that is what every parent wants..to know what to expect.

peace,
RAP

The main thing I like about Jerome is his age. I think it is good to have were in highschool about a decade ago instead of many decades ago to give input since my generation seems to be outcasts and is way outvoted by the "boomers". I heard jerome give a "hope and change" "working together" speech at the city council but I'm still leaning towards him.

John is very smart. Very detailed and thorough. He'd be a good consultant. I think him or Betty is a good choice but I don't know Betty yet but it is good Betty was on the old schools committee.

The one I have concerns about is Paul Jordan. He may be good at sending out emails but I thinks he lacks independence. I think we need to raise the bar in Flint. I think Linda is doing O.K. but I think we can do better.

Even if Paul looses Linda will still have pretty much full control of 6-9 of the 9 votes.

I might even vote with her 90% of the time or so but we need to raise the bar. We can afford to pay our superintendent more than most government but we can't fix tiles in NW cafeteria???

Hopefully if I'm on the school board your daughter can play with her freinds and not have to sit through boring arduous meetings. Wink If people like you would have gotten more involved and won some seats I would have been happy to taken your spot on the sidelines.

So where is Chow's plan at? Garbage? Anyone have a copy?

I do like the fact Linda is from Flint, lives in Flint, pays her too high taxes in Flint, has worked in Flint schools and has many many ties and connections in Flint. I think that is a very good thing. With a first rate board I think Linda could live up to her potential.

Adam...do you have the FPS budget in front of you? The complete budget including the GASC?

If you do...could you e-mail me the amount of monies that GASC has alloted for personnel training or does that fall under the FPS "regular" budget?

The following is a general explanation of the (7) funding categories that comprise the school district budget:

Div A - Provides the bulk of K-12 community education from the state school aid foundation allowance per full time equivalent (FTE) student. Div A also includes numerous categoricals such as At Risk, 17 to 1 student to teacher ratio (class size reduction), Vocational Education, Adult Education, Michigan School Readiness, and Special Education.

Div C - Reimbursables Fund - All grant funded programming where such programs and associated activities end when the grant runs out (includes Title One, and all other Federal and State educational grant funding.

Div D - Durant non-bond fund monies (received from the state as the result of a class action lawsuit in 1997) and runs out in 2007.

Div L - GASC Tech Center operations funding.

DIv N - Food Service operations funding.

Div P - Cultural Center funding (the board ceded title to the Cultural Center facilities June 04 so don't know if this is still a valid fund).

Div T - Building and Sites fund - Money set aside for emergency facility repairs and building and sites expenses.

To also help you gain an understanding of the district's budget structure (fund category expenses and revenue) I would suggest you ask for a copy of the monthly budget summary (it's a one page tabulation of the monthly 7 fund category expense to revenue) that is or was/should be included in the board agenda as well as in the meeting agenda made available for the public at the last board meeting of each month.

Peace,
RAP

Flint schools enrollment drops 9.4% in last year That's 1395 less students. The district says it had 13,495 pupils on its Feb. 11 state count day, compared with 14,887 one year earlier.

Well Rap, I am glad that you know Adam, but what do that mean
if I disagree with Adam? As far as Flint is concern I have friends in
Flint, and I will continue to stick by what I believe in when it comes
to Flint outsiders. Believe me Rap I know enough about Flint, due
to the fact that I use to work at BuickCity for 20 years, and lived
in Bay City.

So what I state is realistic facts that I learn about from friends,
or what I see happening personally, and read in the Flint news
paper (m-live). Flint will make a small recovery thanks to you
other people. Because in Flint there isn't just a economic problem
race is the major problem.

Its to bad that Flint only have three or four (if that many) Blacks
who MIGHT be qualified to help run the City, but outside of those
few everything is ran by outsiders who live in the surrounding areas,
and the poor Blacks & whites don't have a chance.

So in closing, I am glad that you are Adams friend.

Adam,

You were on the facilities committee...how many students did we expect to lose 08-09...1300?

HMMMM...do your own homework.

I am not so sharp lately...your words.

Then again don't believe everything you read in the papers.

SMILE

Peace,

The projections by the Flint schools based on the prior five years yere 2008-2009 14040 students or a drop of 1248 8.89%

2009-2010 = 12898 -1143 -8.86%

If you look at that Flint was only off by .5% in their projections.

Things are projected to level off. In 2013-2014 we are projected to be at 10045 with a loss of 453 students of -4.51%
