Topic: Should There Be A Law Against Cellphone Useage While Driving

I am currently lobbying Lansing's Senate and House to
ban cellphone use while driving without a ear piece.
I have seen to many near accidents happen with people
on the cellphones raising hell, and that can distract a
person's attention from the road.

So my group Citizens Against Corrupted Politicians, is
going to start a Statewide write-in campaign to your
Senator or House Representative. Asking them to also
introduce a Bill that would force law enorcement agencies
to enforce that law if it passes.

After three years of general research the CACP have
found out that more accidents, and people have losted
their lives due to cellphone use. Most accidents is most
likely to be caused by cellphone users. Who are the ones
who leaves or continue to keep going from the scene.

Here in Detroit a lady was so busy talking on her cell
phone until she did not notice the train track rail gates
was down, and she was in the middle of the crossing
when the train sideswiped her car. She is blessed to be
alive today.

Two weeks ago on Westbound I-94 near the Metro Airport.
A Semi-Truck Driver smashed into two cars while moving,
due to the fact that he was on the phone, and again, the
people in one car suffered broken arms & legs. But in the
second car the people was killed.

So please tell everyone you all know to buy a ear piece,
and still write-in to your Senator & House Rep to create a
bill that might save someone in your family or a friends life.

My girlfriend's brother in law was killed walking across the street using one and the truck that hit him, the driver was using one.

I have a bumper sticker that says.."Hang up and drive." Smile

There are states, I think that are wonderful out of Idaho or Utah. People that are ages 16-23 drive like 70 year olds without cell phones.

Acceleration and slowing down are timed 20 +/- seconds off while using a phone rather than driving without one.

Talking on the cell phone is not so bad as texting. My adult son confessed he texts while driving. He steers with his thigh. If I could smack him and ground him and take away that phone I would. I looked up texting while driving in a Google search. My goodness, it's as rampant as a good rumor.

Ya know I haven't done the research on texting but I will definitely take your word on it.

Am I reading this correctly? You're saying that reaction times are affected a full 20 seconds because of a cell phone. Also the plus sign indicates that the reaction time is sped up by 20 seconds.

I have seen many near accidents caused by inattentive drivers who are eating, drinking, changing CD's, or talking to passengers. Are you also proposing a law to ban eating, drinking, CD players or passengers?

More accidents? More accidents than what? What did you compare to? Most accidents are most likely caused by cell phone users? How can you say definitely that any accident was caused by someone on a cell phone? Talking on a cell phone may be a factor, but you cannot prove definitively that it was the cause of any accident.

Go for it. Here in Florida a teenage driver (Orlando area) was too busy talking on her cell phone she ran a red light and plowed into a mother pushing a baby stroller killing the two kids.
Come on people!
