Does anybody know which sports bars/restaurants in the area have Direct TV or Charter? Want to watch the Superbowl but on something other than Comcast? I'm serious. Thanks!

No. I don't work for a Comcast competitor. But I'm not about support Comcast or their advertisers on the biggest TV day of the year when they treat consumers the way they do. Thanks for the info. Let me know if you hear of any other places to watch the big game.

COMCAST MOTHBALLING LOCAL TV STUDIOS;
STATE MAY FIGHT BACK

Posted on 1/10/2008 4:54:49 PM

Local government officials staged a strategy session late last week with local lawmakers to head off a plan to relocate Public, Educational and Government (PEG) cable access channels to the far reaches of digital cable service, the MIRS Capital Capsule from Michigan Information & Research Service Inc. reported Monday

Comcast cable says it will move those channels from the lower tiers of basic cable to the 900 range on Jan. 15 and some local governments want to block the move.

Sterling Heights Mayor Richard Notte hosted the meeting that involved other mayors, supervisors, and four state lawmakers from Macomb County, who pledged to push legislation early this year to stop the relocation.

Rep. Tory Rocca (R-Sterling Heights) and Rep. Steve Bieda (D-Warren) reassured the group that they would seek a "Speaker's Priority Request" to enact the legislation as quickly as possible.

Comcast is not only moving the channels, it is mothballing all nine of its Michigan PEG studios, where local residents can produce their own local programming at no charge. The cable company said that for competitive reasons it is shutting down those operations because other cable firms are not offering those services.

Also attending the meeting were Sen. Mickey Switalski (D-Roseville) and Rep. Lisa Wojno (D-Warren).

Comcast has the authority to make these changes under provisions adopted in the Uniform State Video Franchise Act passed by lawmakers last year.

it sounds like all they did was stage a strategy session. nothing much more than that. isn't that a mute point if Comcast has the authority to make these changes under provisions adopted in the Uniform State Video Franchise Act? Also, with digital being mandatory next year, won't it all go to the higher-tier channels anyway? do you know where i can go (other than comcast) to complain about my cable bill going up?

why dave. i just dropped DTV because there was always a tele that didn't
work, or a cloud that would screw up reception.. every time they sent some
clown to fix it, these cats never got it right.
