While driving though the city I spotted an old pick-up truck which had a bumper sticker that read:

"Lost your job yet?
Keep buying foreign!"

So much truth in that statement!

Does the US still manufacture anything? I notice Toyota is opening up shop all over the US. UAW workers are making Volkswagens. Define "foreign."

Do corporate profits stay in the US, or go overseas?

I once asked my union rep which was the foreign car; the Mazda made in Ohio, or his Chevy, made in Canada. That got me quite a bit higher on his list.

The best bumper sticker I ever had was the one that said: "I brake for all animals EXCEPT Wolverines". Yes, it was white with green letters.

Foreign in cars, or in general?

I just learned about the sweatshops in the Marianas. I used to buy Jones New York pretty regularly because it's labeled as "MADE IN USA" with "Mariana Islands" just under it. Now I learn that US law doesn't protect those workers. WTF?

But the one reliably American company is American Apparel. It isn't cheap, but it is American-made and a GREAT quality.

I have a hat from the National Prisoner of War Museum, in Andersonville, Georgia. It's made in China!

I have a keychain from the US Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration. It was made in China.

The forever loved American motorcycle Harley Davidson which may be assembled in America but many, and I mean many, of the parts are from Tiawan. Go check the labels in their shops.
What is up with that?????

I remember way back in the seventies, my uncle made up a T-shirt with the words "Hungry? Eat your foreign car!"

I saw that same bumper sticker on a Chrysler Crossfire. (They're built in Germany.)

Only in Flint Town.

I had a flag lapel pin, made in China. When my kids were small, buying them toys always gave me stress. They're all made in China, and I always wonder how many children are making my children's toys. I'm told New Balance shoes are made in the U.S. My favorite bumper sticker: "in case of rapture, can I have your car?"

I thought the same thing about New Balance. When I read this thread I went and checked my old pair and sure enough: Made In China.
