This morning at 9:00 am until 9:30 am on WFLT 1420 AM radio out of Flint Mi on my radio show "Know the Law"The topic is divorce mediation. The
Question is , When you divorce who do you want helping You? A Gladiator/Warrior or a Peace Maker/Cab driver. This is a call in program starting at 9:10 am. You can participate directly by calling 1-810-239-5733
Now in Flint this is not the time for I told you so.
I am disappoint that the City is Facing a $4 million dollar deficit. I was born here, I live here, I work here, I will die here. And I tire from the constant humiliation. To Mr. Walling I read the letter you sent for the purpose of fund-raising. Your ego and arrogance are the very reasons you were defeated.
I ask you , Walling and others, what do we have to do to collectively save this City. I am not leaving and will go down swinging, or at the very least mediating.....
Consider joining the Flint Area internet movement, a lots of good things are happening. Special recognition to the Flint Journal MLIVE site.
I am looking for groups to address on the topic of Family and Community mediation. Call 235-1970.
These following are important questions, to me, what are the answers?

not exactly sure which budget they are working off of.. but even in the initial process there was no issue over the projected revenue... The dispute was over how to spend the money that was coming in.
I believe what the mayor requested from the state was that they force an audit to be done for the fiscal year that ended june of 07. And that is what the state did. At the end of 07, there was $6 million in the bank. In other words it seems that the admin is going to spend the projected $70 million in taxes that we are going to collect plus the $6 million in surplus from last year and then some more that we don't have.
I've heard that they are going to have to transfer money from pooled cash accounts (ie sewer and water) in order to make ends meet at the end of the year.... sounds like something that led to the last takeover.
I like how the admin is blaming this deficit on the current economy.... Did the economy in Flint Mi just turn bad... Did we just get the highest unemployment rate in the state this year? Why wasn't the administration cutting spending long ago? When I was defeated from Council in 05 we had an $8 million surplus... Today, with absolutely no oversight from members of the Council we are projected to be in a deficit. Why have we overspent to the point that we are now in a deficit knowing full well that revenues would continue to decline?
Did the Mayor really need a million dollar budget? Do we really need to spend $500,000.00 on a Citizens Service Bureau? Why is the union representatives budget in a deficit? Why is the Golf Course fund in a deficit? Did we really need 50 new gas sucking Tahoes for the Police department when gas is hovering around and over $3.00 a gallon? And on and on and on..... |

JOSH! Are you sounding like me or and am I sounding like you.
Alex was reminding me the other night about that article I wrote in Uncommon Sense voicing concerns over how spending more money on Tahoes that cost more to maintain and use more gas was a savings to the citizens of Flint. Yet according to the Mayor those were going to save the City Money?
I'm still confused how the Tahoe purchases saved us money? And the more expensive garbage trucks, the new lawn mowers, etc. |

ALL POLITICS AND GLOBAL WARMING ARE LOCAL![trb]
Global Warming ..its continuing..your great grandchildren just before their last breath will look at a family album with you in it and say “ The bastards knew and did not do anything about global warming!”[trb]
“We need a new climate change Marshall Plan that will reshape the world’s future economy and redirect investment flows into a sustainable future,”.... [EW]
What is the world saying about Global warming this week?[trb]
Australia calls for global action on climate change [PDO]
Officials see climate change opportunities [TC]
Latin American, Caribbean Countries Have Key Role In Tackling Climate Change [EW]
Climate change threatens West's water, world's crops [USAT]
Think about this “ALL POLITICS AND GLOBAL WARMING ARE LOCAL” What can we do? Call our congressman? What will we say?![trb]
..need.. truly global action by both developed and developing countries to address climate change. [PDO]
Do not kid yourself, global warming is affecting America directly and indirectly.[trb]
-dry up water resources in the American West and the food supplies of 1 billion people in the poorest regions of Africa and Asia are the focus of two studies released today. [USAT]
– including inundation of small island states and densely-populated coastal areas; more intense hurricanes; water shortages; soil erosion; droughts; and the loss of biodiversity – will intensify as time goes by. [EW]
We have too many people on too little space consuming too many resources.[trb]
-60% of the changes in river flow, snow pack and winter temperatures in the West over the past 50 years are due to warming caused by human activities, such as the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural gas. [USAT]
When California runs out of water they will raid the great lakes.[trb]
-We will fight this together or we will die together.[trb]
"The world needs all countries to work together and agree on actions to address this common challenge," Penny Wong, Australian Minister for Climate Change and Water, said in a statement at the end of a two-day meeting on energy security and climate change. [PDO]
-the changes of the past five decades have meant less snow pack and more rain in the mountains, rivers that run dry by summer, and overall drier summers in the region.[USAT]
And although the West has gone through natural wet and dry cycles in the past, the current water flow trends differ significantly in length and in strength from natural variations in the past, the researchers concluded.[USAT]
-The people in the west will die of thirst first.[trb]
"Our results are not good news for those living in the western USA," he says, and notes that the changes might make "modifications to the water infrastructure of the western U.S. a virtual necessity."[USAT]
-The researchers found that crops in southern parts of Africa and Asia appear to be the most vulnerable to a warmer world: "In Africa, corn, sorghum and wheat will likely be most affected, while in Asia, the crops are wheat, rice, corn, canola, millet," says Lobell.[USAT]
Temperature and rain are the key factors that affect crops. The study authors analyzed 20 climate models and concluded that by 2030, the average temperature in most areas could rise 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit, while precipitation in some places — including South Asia, South Africa, Central America and Brazil — could decrease. [USAT]
-I hear a lot of talk about the 3rd world, just what is George Bush, Dale Kildee, Carl Levin , and Debbie Stabenow doing to save the lives of our great grand children?[trb]
-OH.. OH.. WE ARE GETTING CLOSE TO TALKING ABOUT EMISSIONS AND RESTRICTIONS ON THE CAR INDUSTRY. ITS POLITICALLY INCORRECT FOR FLINTOIDS TO BRING THIS UP.[TRB]
- I propose the one thing we can agree on is that our elected offical from the president down should be knowledgable of and have a position on global warming.

Chad President under siege as fighting rages [IW]
Here I am morphing together several current news posts to gain some understanding about this dirty little war.[trb]
The most recent rebellions in Chad began in 2005 in the east, erupting at the same time as Darfur conflict in Sudan. More than 200,000 people have died in five years of fighting between ethnic African tribes and Sudanese government forces and 2.5 million have been driven from their homes. [WP]
The rebels arrived Friday on the capital's outskirts in about 250 pickup trucks mounted with machine guns after a three-day push across the desert from Chad's eastern border with Sudan. They entered the city early Saturday, quickly spreading through the streets.[IHT]
Imagine you are in a small impoverished coutry run by a despot and trigger happy stoned kids with automatic weapons in trucks come screaming by shooting everything in sight and routing an army. This has been the plot line of a hundred good and bad movies and it continues today.[trb]
I bet a lot of big money people are watching this closely.[trb]
The rebel assault may also impact on Chad's position as a major oil exporter since the completion of a $3.7bn pipeline linking its oilfields to terminals on the Atlantic coast, run by US and Malaysian multinationals.[GU]
We seldom think of parts of the world that our feet are not on. Horrible things are happening in or around Chad region that borders the war-ravaged Darfur region of Sudan. How many will die before we notice.[trb]
Rebel forces cut Chad's capital in two yesterday and laid siege to the palace where President Idriss Déby was overseeing a last effort to save his authoritarian 18-year rule.[GU]
Think of machine guns in crowed neighborhoods but now vacant street.[trb]
...see full article linked above..
...
You could almost feel sorry for Deby until information about how bad this French puppet is.[trb]
..
The United Nations must be trying to prop up the oil intrests and save lives.I wonder if we have advisors there.[trb]
...
Chadian rebels said Monday they had voluntarily withdrawn from Chad's capital overnight, but it was unclear if they succumbed to the helicopter gunships and tanks deployed by government forces. [WP]

It would be interesting to see the crime stats in other cities where GM shutdown operations. Actually anyone paying attention knows that Flints crime rate shot up about the same time that crack cocaine became the drug of choice. You think those dealers and their customers would give up their lifetyle and hire into Buick city if it ever reopened? I drove thru Downtown Flint last thursday and I have to say it is a very depressing sight compared to its glory days. I will say that the "Lunch Studio" stood out as a highlight amongst the boarded up and vacant businesses and if I could have found a place to park the H3 I was gonna have lunch there.
So are you saying that in 2004 Crack Cocaine became the Drug of Choice? Since that it the only time frame you'll find where crime jumped almost 40 percent? |

No what I am saying is that is when Flint really started on its downward spiral to becoming a violent crime ridden city is about the same time that the $10 rock became the drug of choice on the streets.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Criminal Investigations Bureau
THE DETECTIVE BUREAU was historically organized into offense-specific squads devoted to homicide, robbery, burglary, larceny, sex crimes, auto theft and vice/narcotics.
A lieutenant supervised each squad and contained a detective sergeant and the number of detectives necessary to the assignment. A special arson squad was created in 1977 when a Flint firefighter was assigned to work with a police partner. Flint detectives developed reputations for competency and were considered the finest in the State by their peers.
The homicide unit regularly distinguished itself by solving the murders that occurred in the bustling, brawling, blue-collar town that was putting the nation on wheels. Probably the most significant change in detective allocations over the years was driven by the police response to drugs. The humble beginnings of the narcotics squad in 1953, a two man assignment, failed to foreshadow the insidious nature and popularity of drugs. Following a steady rise in drug violations over the next thirty years, in
1985 the emergence of crack cocaine overwhelmed police departments across the nation. There are more than forty Flint police personnel assigned to drug investigations today. Most work out of the Special Operations Bureau.
The detective rank was abolished in the mid-1970’s and all detectives became sergeants. This move gave the Administration more flexibility with personnel assignments, as sergeants could thereafter be moved between investigative and uniform assignments depending on need. The Detective Bureau’s name was changed to Criminal Investigative Bureau.
In 1995, a captain commands the Criminal Investigative Bureau
(fondly called the D.B.). There are two broad sections, Crimes Against People and Crimes against Property, each headed by a lieutenant. Personnel within the sections are assigned by function, changing when needs dictate concentration in specific areas. There are over thirty sergeants assigned to the Bureau.
HOMICIDE / ASSAULT UNIT - The Homicide/Assault Unit investigates murder, attempted murder, suicides, battery/aggravated battery, assault/aggravated assault, domestic violence, kidnapping (adults), stalking, bomb threats, all deaths involving children (except traffic related), accidental deaths (drowning, electrocution), fire deaths, officer involved shootings, and officer involved deaths.(810) 237-6905

________
George W. Bush presents :BUDGET TO NOWHERE.[F]
Now George, here you go again.[trb]
Despite his pledges to curb government spending, President Bush will exit the White House next year leaving behind an eye-popping federal deficit that tops $400 billion. And that's just one of the shocking revelations in the president's $3.1 trillion budget request to Congress for fiscal year 2009, which the White House unveiled Monday. [F]
It was embarrassing to watch him in the State of the Union. Now this budget travisty will tell the world we are not willing to take care of our problems.[trb]
When it comes to President Bush's new $3 trillion budget blueprint for 2009, one thing is almost certain: It's going to get changed. Probably a lot. [CSM]
No coalition that backs this president can get his budget passed.[trb]
The American economy is kept from collapsing by the investment of other nations, sovereign nation. The republican president has put forward a budget that cannot be balanced. Its time in American for a new negative title:..... CONSERVATIVE......[trb]
Being a conservative is now a title to avoid in American because the conservatives have taken away from America its dignity, reputation and its wealth .[trb]
The Iraq war, alone, has consumed 440 billion dollars,[CV]
How many poor could have been educated with this money. How many kids could have gone to college with this money. How many sick who have died could have lived with this money?[trb]
Bush is leaving his successor an enormous fiscal dilemma. The deficit numbers will mean pressure to allow some tax cuts to expire, especially the 35 percent bracket for wealthy taxpayers, which will revert to 39.6 percent at the end of 2010 unless renewed. Pressure from Wall Street to trim the deficit may cause even Democrats to go after the spiraling growth of Medicare and the Medicaid health care program for the poor and disabled.[AP#1]
Change will come to this Bush Budget.[trb]....
WHAT DOES MACKINAW ISLAND AND GEORGE BUSH HAVE IN COMMON ? THEY FUDGE EVERYTHING.[TRB]
The Bush budget will not keep us from harms way.[trb]
BUSH ALREADY DOUBTS HIS ESTIMATE OF WAR COSTS [TRB]
That claim of a balanced budget hinges on only $70bn in spending on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, an estimate that even White House aides acknowledge they will exceed during the next fiscal year.[GU]
The Bush budget also fails to account for the growth of the alternative minimum tax, which Congress must adjust every year to avoid leaving middle-class Americans with a huge tax bill. By contrast, Bush assumes that the Democrats who control Congress would cement his legacy by permanently extending individual and corporate tax cuts, which are likely to expire for the wealthiest taxpayers. [GU]
BUSH LIED TO AMERICANS, AGAIN![TRB ]
Democratic Senate leader Harry Reid, leading a chorus of alarm in his party, called the Bush budget "fiscally irresponsible and highly deceptive". [GU]
REPUBLICANS THINK BUSH IS OUT TO LUNCH.[TRB]
Revealing the extent of Bush's diminished political capital, even members of his own party gave the budget little credence. Judd Gregg, the senior Republican on the Senate budget committee, released a statement that pointed out where the president fell short. [GU]
Presidential budgets are normally hefty documents. This year, for the first time, Mr. Bush is sending out the budget in electronic form that members of Congress and the nation can read online. [VA]

http://origin.www.gpoaccess.gov/usbudget/fy09/browse.html
"Today's budget bears all the hallmarks of the Bush legacy — it leads to more deficits, more debt, more tax cuts, more cutbacks in critical services," said House Budget Committee Chairman John Spratt, D-S.C.[AP#1]
In an echo of a past policy failure, Bush has proposed that Social Security be reformed to allow workers to use up to 4% of their Social Security earnings to fund personal retirement accounts. The contributions, which would begin in 2013, would be capped at $1,400 per worker during the first year and would be allowed to gradually increase until 2018.[F]
